What do you do at CEI?

I am a Senior Equity Facilitator/Consultant

What did you do prior to CEI?

I am a social worker by trade that recently served as the first Equity Manager for the City of Portland’s Police Department.  Prior to that, I served as a consultant for the Annie E. Casey Foundation.  I was a part of a team that provided technical assistance in statewide child welfare systems throughout the country.

Why do you do this work?

This work is very personal to me.  I often say that I was born into this work.  I often reflect on the sacrifices of my ancestors and immediate family.  I feel I have a responsibility to continue with this legacy of community involvement, service and sacrifice.  This work is hard and I feel called.  Also, my son keeps me motivated.  Not only do I want to be part of making this a better world for him, I want to be active in creating a sense of belongingness and connectedness around this work. I want to see more DEI leaders and allies who demonstrate courage.

What is a question that guides your work?
If not you, then who?
“People fought for you and they didn’t know your name”
