What do you do at CEI?
I am a founding partner of CEI and lead facilitator, guiding long-term organizational transformation for companies and organizations. I support our clients through facilitation, executive level coaching, and targeted consulting.
What did you do before CEI?
I am an effective facilitator, manager, business owner and entrepreneur, who has a depth of experience in both the non-profit and business sector. I began my career as an advocate for Portland, Oregon’s most at-risk youth, and quickly rose in leadership by becoming a Program Manager and Lead Facilitator. As a facilitator I have led numerous youth programs, racial equity professional development courses for professionals, and facilitation skill development for beginning and seasoned facilitators.
Why do you do this work?
My brilliant, beautiful, black daughter. I am living in a country that has strategically structured our society to impose a second class citizenship on people based on the color of their skin. It isn’t enough to just be disturbed by how groups are marginalized because of their race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or disability. My only options are to accept or dismantle. I have chosen the latter.
What do you believe?
I believe that if we do nothing, we are advancing the work of the oppressor. I believe that we must be uncomfortable with the present day structure, that we are all responsible for dreaming up alternatives while collectively and strategically working to restructure our country in a way that acknowledges our mistakes and celebrates our differences. I believe that we will not see the fruits of our labor, but that our children and grandchildren will benefit from it.
What question guides your work?
If not this, then what?
