Build a Foundation for Equity
Join others in a transformative experience that helps you become racially conscious and culturally competent. This course will explore definitions, racial frameworks, and history while challenging participants to think critically and build their skills related to race equity.
This is a public training open to anyone who seeks to be a learner in this work.
In-person and remote options available. Registration cost is $650 per person and includes a copy of An Other World by Hanif Fazal, Co-Founder of The Center
A Culturally Responsive Approach to Supervision
Enhace the way you lead in order to drive performance and cultivate an inclusive and thriving team.
Not your traditional management training, this workshop will push leaders to examine their beliefs and practices around leadership while building technical skill and a deeper understanding of how to effectively supervise others in a culturally responsive way.
Participating leaders will walk away with:
- Increased skill to supervise cross culturally
- New protocols and practices to support staff and building an inclusive team
- Knowledge of DEI frameworks and concepts
- A racial equity lens to apply to real time challenges
- A personalized action plan that centers a real-time challenge
Training consists of a 2-day intensive (in person) and five, three-hour follow up sessions (virtual).
Anticipated Dates:
- 2-day Intensive: May 29-30 (9am-4pm) in person at the Center, Portland, OR
- Follow Ups: 6/11 (1-4pm), 7/9 (9am-12pm), 7/30 (1-4pm), 8/20 (1-4pm), 9/17 (9am-12pm) virtual
$2200 per person/need based scholarships may be requested
Strengthen Your Skills in Facilitating DEI
An indepth week-long intensive that develops an advanced DEI facilitation skillset.
Training includes:
- Using Story as a Tool
- Experiential Learning Activities
- Identifying and Handling Personal Triggers
- Working With and Understanding White and Non-White Resistance
- Facilitating from Questions
- And more
Designed for individuals leading DEI work within their communities or organizations.
(Prerequisite: Reframing Racism or foundational knowledge of race equity)
These sessions are led by the Center's Co-Founder and Author, Hanif Fazal and will include a copy of his book, An Other World
In-person only at this time.

A Training Made by Educators for Educators
A week-long collaborative learning opportunity for educators to deepen their practice and develop improved ways to serve students and families.
Geared towards any educators or school building staff, who are committed to engaging in conversations about race in their spaces and curriculum.
(Prerequisite: Reframing Racism or a foundational knowledge of race equity)
